Ok, seriously.

We packed Baby up and put her on a freighter to Cartagena, Colombia to ship her around the Darien Gap.  By pure coincidence, we met a bunch of people at our hostel that had chartered a yatch to go from Panama to Colombia and stop of in the San Blas Islands in route for a couple of days.

It was a 47 foot yatch, and we sailed from island to island.

Once we really got going, it took us about 24 hours of continuous sailing to get around the Darien Gap.

This was our first sighting of South America.  Cartagena, Colombia.

It took us along time to get Baby back (almost a week of finageling with the customs officials).  When we did, she was waiting patiently.

The Darien Gap

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

38 countries united world wide to build us the ultimate jump to gap the Darien between Panama and Columbia. We pulled off a sweet corking flip and stuck it.

But not before a quick stop over to the San Blas Islands for some snorkeling and fishing.

The Panama Canal

Saturday, December 9th, 2006

We are pretty stoked.  We consider this the halfway point of the trip.

Panama.canal1.jpg

We just heard that 25 million people died building the Panama Canal.

We headed into the heart of Panama City and got lost as hell.

Of course we got the super sick spot for the rig overlooking the best point break on the beach.

Turner dropped in for a visit, and we surfed the best waves so far on the trip.

Paddling Life

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

Joe Carberry, one of the managing editors of the newest kayak mag, Paddling Life joined us for a one week ride´a´long. We paddled 3 rivers in the first two days he was with us, and hucked a sweet 25 footer. The coolest thing about it was that he is a rippin kayaker, so he would just jump first and take pictures from the bottom.

We had a jam packed week for, veg oil collection, school demonstrations and then topped it off with some Surf in Santa Catalina.

The school was a technical high school.

We got to teach the diesel mechanics class the ins and outs of running on veg oil.
