Back in the USA!!!

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

It is an official O+WP rest week. As they prepare for the Outdoor Retailer, Seth is staging operations at KAVU headquarters in Seattle, and Tyler is spending some quality time with his mom and brother in Montana. Stay tuned for more updates in about a week, when the boys reunite in Sandpoint, Idaho with Tom and Andy to make the last official pit-stop before heading over the border into a whole new world of experience!

Fooled by the Feminists!

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

We were tricked! A group emailed us to set up an event in Vancouver, BC for a youth program. It went back and forth, and they set us up with a stellar spot on Jericho beach to conduct our demonstration. The funny thing was, when we arrived……there were no kids to be found! We still had a good time…

Hollywood finds us

Monday, July 24th, 2006

These boys saw our article in Outside, and over a BBQ they casually talked about what a great documentary they could make of the trip. They couldn’t stop thinking about it, and soon enough they got a hold of us. They flew up to meet us in route on a moments notice, and we are now in the process of negotiating film rights. They seem like genuinely cool guys, wth a consistent motivation……

A quickie at the Thompson.

Monday, July 24th, 2006

We crossed into some scorching heat the minute we headed South from Prince George. The roadside, big water run of the Thompson was a site for sore eyes.

Bender in Smithers

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

We met Jeff in Mexico last fall when we were on our mission to learn spanish. He was following the blog, and realized we would be coming right through his town of Smithers. He threw us this HUGE costume party, and Seth ended up in the hot tub with a couple 20 year old girls wearing nothing but duct-tape!
Thanks Jeff~

BC Creekin’

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

Of course Shane opened a whole new can of worms for us that he has been busy finding over the last years. He took us down his own Hirsch creek, a tight canyoning style kayak run. We spent a great Saturday riding the slides of Davis and Katada Creek, which was WIKID!

These are the kind of days that we look the most forward to.

Biofuels in Terrace

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Jeff contacted us months ago from a post we made on the BiodieselNow forum, and has been collecting excess waste oil for us ever since! He sent us on the road with a refill of 60 gallons.

Of course we did our local community education and demonstration day at the Spencers store, Azad adventures, and recieved oodles of media coverage.

Seth was up here on a kayak trip in 2003, and Shane showed him and a great big posse all the goods in the area. This year, we returned only to find more runs that Shane had been busy exploring over the past years. Azad adventures is their family run outdoor store.

Shane and Suki have been married for just over 3 years. Their son, Taj is just 5 months old. Suki’s parents are living with them in their new house and helps out with watching Taj when both of them want to go out simultaneously hucking.

The whole family is well known for local accomplishments in kayaking, mountain biking, climbing and guiding. You can see the look in Taj’s eye….eager to get out there and start ripping it up all the same, he is already taking huge air in his crib.

The Cassiar Highway

A long-ass drive.

yukon6.jpg

yukon13.jpg

The Cassiar is 450 miles long on a sketchy road.  It took us 3 days in our bio-caravan!

We did parking lot demonstrations in each of the small communities we traveled through including Watason Lake, Dease Lake and Stewart.

We collected waste oil from each of the restaurants we ate at

Making for a cheap trip!

We rolled by the put-in for the Stikine and it was JUICIN.

Between the two cars, we’ve only had one flat the whole trip…..

Leaving Alaska

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Fuel of choice: Salmon Oil. We had never even heard of anyone ever doing this before, so we went off of faith. This is oil that was sifted out of fish guts. It worked great, but was really smelly.

We had no shortage of scenic shots on the way out!
